What inspired you to make your YouTube channel?
I always loved watching beauty videos on YouTube. They actually introduced me to a whole world of products that I didn’t even know existed, as well as an amazing community of people. I thought that it would be fun to be behind the camera chatting about my favorite products, rather than just watching the videos. I filmed my first video and it was so much fun that I stuck with it!
How has being a YouTube beauty guru affected your life?
It has affected my life in so many amazing ways. My favorite part would definitely have to be the community aspect. I absolutely love getting to know my viewers. I’ve become friends with them, as well as other people who film YouTube videos. It’s so much fun to get to know different people from all over the world!
What do you think makes your channel different from other “beauty gurus” on YouTube?
My channel focuses on a mix of products. I love affordable products that you can find at the drugstore, as well higher-end products! It can be so much fun to mix and match them and see which ones work best. I also believe that makeup is a fun accessory! Have fun trying different looks and products to see which ones work best for you. Don’t feel like you have to wear what everyone else is wearing, or that you have to follow any rules.
What advice would you give for someone who wants to create his or her own YouTube channel?
I would say to go for it! YouTube is such a fun place where most people are supportive and friendly. It does take time for your channel to grow, so don’t get discouraged. Just have fun and keep working hard at making consistent content. Make sure to interact with your viewers, as well as other YouTubers!
What are your favorite beauty trends at the moment?
I am so excited for fall makeup trends. I absolutely love the classic combination of dark, dramatic lipstick with winged liner. Super dramatic contouring and highlighting is always a fun thing to try as well!
What is one interesting thing that your viewers might not know about you?
My sisters and I have actually have our own nail polish line! We created it in November of 2012 and it is called Tillie Polish. We focus on trendy colors that are free of the harsh chemicals often found in other brands.
