There’s a ton to be thankful for this season and our gratitude list is endless! Topping our list is having the perfect statement coat for the season AND for your body shape!
Lately, the cape trend is spreading like wildfire from dresses on the red carpet to edgy, blazer styles on the street. The cape is also revival of the warm and comfortable “poncho”, which is often found in different patterns and is the perfect “throw on” piece. Would you rock this season’s cape coat trend? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
Wool duster coats in classic camel, pretty pastels like pale pink and powder blue make for easy effortless looks for anyone to pull off. You could also give off a completely different vibe that’s relaxed yet glam by adding a faux fur vest or coat to your wardrobe.
We know that finding a perfect coat for the winter season isn’t exactly rocket science, but we dove a bit further in finding styles that will flatter your body shape. Needless to say we think it’s the perfect way to be thankful for your body!
You are wider in your hips and legs.
Look For: Key components to emphasize the waist up. Double breasted detailing or a shearling collar detail draw the eye upward with the added bonus of keeping you more warm! Go the extra mile and dress it up with a chunky scarf.
You are bustier on your upper half and wider in your arms and tummy.
Look For: A long wool coat with unique asymmetrical or side zip detail. Low pocket detailing also draws attention downwards. Avoid button detailing at the top and belting at the waist.
You are long and lean all around.
Look for: Pieces that add volume like cute puffer coat or sleeveless coat (remember to layer). Also, wearing coats that belt or tie at the waist gives the appearance of curves in fall statement patterns like plaid and tweed.
You have an equal upper and lower half and/or smaller waist in between.
Look for: Coats that embrace your curves! A classic trench silhouette will look great cinched at the waist. But go bold! Try one in a fresh pop of color for the perfect statement.
You have a smaller frame and shorter height.
Look for: A play on proportions. Try a jacket that fits comfortably at the waist and sits right at the hip. A black moto jacket is an all around statement piece for every season or try something different with this season’s bomber jacket. For extra elongation, channeling a monochromatic look from head to toe elongates your body and is always a chic approach to styling.
